Having gone through many different historical changes over the centuries, this area has remained the meeting place of cultures and religions with traces clearly visible today. Drive along the Makarska Riviera, then inland through the picturesque Neretva River Delta up to Mostar. During the Turkish rule, the city developed on the banks of the river as an important trade centre on caravan routes. A guided tour will show us the town's highlights, we shall visit the Oriental part of the town with the old Bazaar full of picturesque shops and workshops, a typical Turkish house, then walk along the legendary Turkish bridge from the 16th century after which the town was named (bridge=most; Mostar). We leave Mostar late in the afternoon.
In the true sense of the word it is the city where western and eastern civilization collide. This is a city of poetry, a city of stone and sleepy, narrow winding streets. It is a city where the traveller from the North feels the first dashes of Mediterranean air imbued with scents of citrus and sea, and the traveller from the South reaches the first glimpses of the continent beyond. The town is exceptional for its dwellings and monuments assembled harmoniously over the centuries thanks to favourable geographical conditions and a sound economic climate. Experience sights such as the Old Bazaar and the Turkish House. After the guided tour of the town enjoy some free time for strolling around and browsing among the many old craft shops or maybe have lunch in one of the picturesque local restaurants.
